Visit the village

Our annual visit from the UK to the Village is usually organised to take place in March or April, although in 2009 it was in September.  Groups can vary in number, but are normally around ten to twelve people who reflect the diversity of cultural and religious backgrounds in Britain.

The programme varies from year to year, but over the five days of the visit, it will include a conducted tour of the Village that incorporates the educational institutions; the opportunity of participating in a School for Peace encounter workshop, especially arranged for the group; and meetings with residents and key members of the Village.  Depending on the Ambassador’s diary and any unforeseeable events, we always aim to organise a visit to the residence of the British Ambassador who welcomes the group to a Q&A session, with refreshments served in the beautiful gardens. Recent visits have included trips off the usual track outside the Village, including Wadi Ara - the Northern Triangle, and Bedouin villages, Jerusalem - holy sights, the Supreme Court and meetings with key Arab and Jewish religious or political leaders.

Meals and accommodation are provided in the Village's 39-room Guesthouse.  Each room has its own private balcony overlooking the beautiful natural landscape.

The visit shows how firmly Neve Shalom ~ Wahat al-Salam is anchored in the midst of the complex reality of the Israel - Palestine conflict and its effect upon relations between its own Jewish and Palestinian citizens.
