6 Nov 2008: Poetry Recital: Three Faiths Poetry Evening. St John's Wood Church,Lord's Roundabout, St John's Wood, London NW8 7NE

2008 is the European Year of Inter-cultural Dialogue.  How to celebrate this and make it mean something?  Three poets from three different faiths are coming together at St John's Wood Church in the evening of 6 November to perform work - their own and others' - which they feel represents their own interpretation and appreciation of inter-cultural dialogue. Rana Kabbani, Rabbi Mark Solomon and BH Fraser, the City poet will talk about their poetry choices and read from 1830. Tickets for the event which include refreshments before and after the readings are £20 and the proceeds will go to Neve Shalom - Wahat al-Salam:   The evening is also being supported by the European Commission Representation in the UK. 13 Nov 2008, at 9.30 - 17.00. Workshop: Applied Methods of the School for Peace. Sion Centre for Dialogue and Encounter 34 Chapstow Villas, London W11 2QZ.

In this unique workshop attendees will be asked to think through conflict beyond arbitration, and to consider issues of power, language, religion, ethnicity and general approaches to a conflict, such as the one between Israelis and Palestinians or the ones you may face in your own work. The method of the School for Peace will be discussed in detail.

3 Feb 2009, at 09.30-17.00. Teacher's Workshop: Dealing With Conflict, St Ethelburgas Centre, 78 Bishopgate, EC2 (near Liverpool Street Stn.)

A fantastic workshop for teachers using our teaching resource Dealing With Conflict. It has been especially designed for use in class room situations and draws upon the example of Wahat al Salam ~ Neve Shalom and its conflict transformation institute the School for Peace. It can be used in any citizenship curriculum, geography, RE and English. It is tied in with the National School Curriculum in England. Dealing With Conflict teaches about conflict between Arabs and Jews and encounters much closer to home. It is full of games and simulations.
